First Mythic Deck – I give Wizards a try, and find that they do a good job of breaking the Meta. Designed specifically to confound legends, ramp, and red, we take on some of the top players in Alchemy and come out on top (sometimes). The deck features several alchemy-only synergies that make this deck playable here.

TLDR:

With only 18 rares and no mythics, this is a resource-friendly (if not actually a budget) deck. It really should have another Flame of Anor – it’s pretty broken in this build, and it pairs well with 3-cost counterspells.

There are 2 primary synergies; Flame of Anor with our wizards: Sleep-Cursed Faerie, Electrostatic Infantry, Balmor, Battlemage Captain, Accident-Prone Apprentice, and Tishana’s Tidebinder. The latter is the only new Ixalan wizard we use, but it’s a nice utility that can shut down Jodah, The One Ring and Sheoldred, the Apocalypse as long as it remains on the battlefield.

The second is Fiery Inscription with the spell-heavy build, as well as Tome of Gadwick, which pairs very nicely with our creatures, which are either sticky, hasty, or evasive. It can be too slow in many decks, but not this one; it’s designed to have a quiet turn 1 and jump in with multiple answers (or threats) on turn 2.

Rally at the Hornburg and Third Path Iconoclast combine nicely to spawn a horde that Balmor can pump up and give trample to. Confounding Riddle is a new Ixalan uncommon that gives us the flexibility of acting as 2 different spells at the cost of one mana. It’s probably worth it to be able to do either at the end of opponent’s turn.

Have fun, let me know in the comments how it went, what you think could be improved, as well as requests – if I can make it work, I’ll put it up here!
