Beorn the Fierce Draws 2 EVERY Turn?! | MTG Arena Standard

Beorn the Fierce might be exactly what Mono-Green Bear Tribal needed.

Today we’re playing a new MTG Arena Standard Best-of-One Mono-Green Bears deck built around Beorn the Fierce from Magic: The Gathering | The Hobbit. We ramp into Beorn, turn our non-Bears into Bears, and once we control three Bears we’re drawing TWO cards every combat.

Beorn gives our other Bears +2/+2, Spider-Ham, Peter Porker adds another +1/+1, and Chronicle of Victory can add another +2/+2 — giving the deck the potential to stack a massive +5/+5 across our Bear army.

And that’s only part of what the deck is doing.

Llanowar Elves and Studious First-Year accelerate our mana, while Enduring Vitality can turn the rest of our creatures into mana producers. Beorn can then turn those non-Bears into Bears so they benefit from our tribal bonuses and help activate his draw ability.

Vastlands Scavenger gives us a 4/4 deathtouch Bear while Bind to Life helps dig for important creatures. Celestial Reunion gives us another way to find Beorn, Spider-Ham or whatever creature we’re missing.

For interaction we have Hard-Hitting Question, Hunter’s Talent and Chomping Changeling, giving this Mono-Green deck considerably more flexibility than you might expect.

The deck has been an absolute blast and feels surprisingly competitive. The biggest hole we’re still looking to solve is graveyard interaction, and we’ll talk about potential upgrades like Keen-Eyed Curator during the deck wrap-up.
