Desolation of Smaug turns removal into RAMP in this Rakdos Dragons deck for MTG Arena Standard Best-of-One Mythic.
The big interaction is Greedy Freebooter and Piggy Bank leaving behind Treasure tokens, which lets Desolation of Smaug’s four Dragon-only mana bridge all the way into Bonehoard Dracosaur. We get to control our opponent’s board while simultaneously accelerating into one of our strongest threats.
That same Dragon ramp can power out Nova Hellkite or Smaug the Magnificent, while all of the Treasure we’re generating gives Smaug another way to pressure our opponent’s life total.
Scavenger Regent adds more interaction and another Dragon payoff, Strategic Betrayal handles creatures while attacking the graveyard, Torch the Tower keeps early boards under control, and Corrupted Conviction lets us cash in Greedy Freebooter, Piggy Bank and our other expendable creatures for additional cards.
