In this MTG Arena Edge of Eternities draft, things started off with a bang as we opened a Pinnacle Emissary into a second-pick Warmaker Gunship—a dream start for anyone looking to draft Izzet artifacts. With that much power so early, the path forward was clear, and we leaned hard into the synergies that make the archetype tick. Along the way we picked up several other strong pieces, including one incredible surprise card I had literally never seen before, which added a whole new layer of excitement to the draft.
Despite building what felt like a very powerful and synergistic deck, the games didn’t always reflect that strength. We found ourselves in some awkward situations with bad opening hands, forced mulligans, and bizarrely uncooperative draws that led to the deck underperforming compared to its potential. Still, the variance of Edge of Eternities has been a recurring theme across drafts, and this run was no exception—sometimes the cards tell a story that’s less about flawless execution and more about embracing the chaos. At the end of the day, it was still a fun and unpredictable draft, full of lessons learned and moments that will stick with me.
