We went back to the Crime Daddy.
This is version 2.0 of my Orzhov Extort deck, and after playing the original build I had a pretty good idea of what needed to go.
The biggest problem with our first version was simple: too many cards were only good when The Kingpin of Crime was already on the battlefield.
So we’re fixing that.
Voice of Victory and Scheming Silvertongue are the big additions this time around. Both can generate real value without Kingpin, while still having greater toughness than power so they work perfectly with him once he does show up.
We’ve also got Hinterland Sanctifier and Cecil, Dark Knight holding down the early game, alongside a much healthier removal package to actually let us survive long enough to assemble the fun stuff.
And the fun stuff is VERY fun.
The Kingpin of Crime gives us Extort.
Delney, Streetwise Lookout can give us additional Kingpin triggers.
Bloodletter of Aclazotz doubles the life our opponent loses during our turn.
Put those pieces together and suddenly paying for a few innocent-looking Extort triggers becomes a very serious problem for the opponent.
This version feels dramatically better than our first attempt because we can actually play a respectable Orzhov game when Kingpin isn’t around — and when he IS around, everything gets ridiculous.
Let’s see if Crime Daddy 2.0 can survive the Standard ladder.
