Inside Information might be one of the most fun new cards from MTG’s The Hobbit — so today we’re building an entire Orzhov Midrange deck around stealing our opponent’s cards and using them against them in MTG Arena Standard!
Inside Information lets us exile cards from the top of our opponent’s library and cast them by paying LIFE instead of mana. From there, we’re loading the deck with payoffs for casting cards from exile and cards we don’t own.
Nita, Forum Conciliator rewards us whenever we cast spells we don’t own, while Appa, Steadfast Guardian and Gonti, Night Minister give us even more ways to capitalize on the strategy.
And Inside Information isn’t our only way to steal cards.
Tinybones, the Pickpocket can cast cards from our opponent’s graveyard.
Black Widow, Super Spy gives us access to more of their library.
Gonti, Night Minister can exile even more cards for us to play.
Of course, paying life for our opponent’s spells means we need a way to stay alive.
That’s where Kambal, Profiteering Mayor, Restoration Magic, Requiting Hex, Battle Menu and Virtue of Persistence come in, giving the deck plenty of life gain while we grind our opponent out.
We’ve also got Settle the Wreckage, Elspeth, Storm Slayer and Ashiok, Wicked Manipulator helping us control the battlefield while our opponent’s own cards become our win condition.
