Kíli makes equipping free, Lady Octopus casts our artifacts for free, and The Mighty Thor turns every Equipment into another card! This Azorius Equipment deck climbed from roughly #1100 Mythic into the Top 850 in MTG Arena Standard Best of One.
Storm Breaker 2.0 isn’t a normal Equipment deck. It builds an absurd value engine where nearly every piece of gear advances our board, draws another card or becomes a lethal threat.
Kíli the Resourceful draws whenever another creature enters and, while we have an enduring story, lets us equip our first Equipment each turn without paying its equip cost. That makes normally expensive Equipment much easier to weaponize immediately.
The Mighty Thor, Jane Foster draws whenever an Equipment enters under our control. Her attack trigger can also blink a nontoken creature or artifact, letting us reuse Equipment enters-the-battlefield abilities while continuing to fill our hand.
All that card draw quickly loads Lady Octopus with ingenuity counters, allowing her to cast increasingly expensive artifacts from our hand without paying their mana costs. Astrologian’s Planisphere supplies another creature, Kíli draws from that creature entering, Thor draws from the Equipment entering, and Lady Octopus rewards the extra cards. Everything connects!
Once the engine is online, Leyline Axe supplies trample while Super-Soldier Serum can give a legendary creature double strike. Suddenly, one massively equipped attacker is capable of ending the game through a crowded battlefield.
We started around #1100–1200 Mythic and consistently climbed into the Top 850 while winning plenty of games and having an absolute blast.
