Today we’re bringing Winter Soldier back to the MTG Arena Standard Best-of-One ladder with an updated Orzhov Equipment deck—and this version refuses to stay dead.

Winter Soldier, Icy Assassin gets +2/+0 for every Equipment attached to him, attacks with vigilance and menace, and can return from the graveyard with one of our Equipment already attached. That gives this deck a powerful way to rebuild after opponents remove our first threat.

Super-Soldier Serum is the deck’s biggest synergy engine. Whenever its creature attacks, we can attach all of our Equipment to that attacker and create an enormous combat threat immediately. Leyline Axe can begin the game directly on the battlefield, while Iron Man Armor can eventually become a creature of its own.

We also have several ways to keep our equipped creatures alive. Zack Fair can sacrifice himself to protect another creature, while Swiftfoot Boots, Stolen Stark Tech and Celestial Armor provide combinations of hexproof, indestructible, flash-speed protection and evasion.

Cloud, Midgar Mercenary helps us find important Equipment, Adelbert Steiner becomes more dangerous as our arsenal grows, and Whiplash, Vengeful Engineer converts those Equipment attachments into additional damage and life.

The newest addition is Turtles Forever, helping us find more legendary creatures so we always have someone available to carry Leyline Axe, Iron Man Armor and the rest of our Equipment.
