Fraying Sanity made its MTG Arena debut in the Wilds of Eldraine Enchanting Tales, so let’s pair it with Terisian Mindbreaker to mill out our Explorer opponents on turn 4! By milling Mindbreaker and Unearthing it, we can skip the stack and give it haste, allowing us to mill half our opponents’ library. With Fraying Sanity in play, the rest of their library gets milled all in one fell swoop!
The rest of the deck acts like an Izzet Control list, with counterspells, burn-based removal and sweepers, while also giving us looting effects like Prismari Command and Izzet Charm! Unfortunately, I missed a slam dunk rummaging effect in Fable of the Mirror Breaker, but hopefully my blunder won’t lose us too many matches!
Overall, we managed to get get 5 wins in our Explorer Event, netting us 400 gems and two assorted booster packs! While the deck is far from the power level of Modern Splinter Twin, the two Izzet combo decks do play similarly and give off that nostalgic vibe!
